The Green Film Network (GFN)
The Green Film Network brings together some of the major film festivals that happen annually around the globe with focus on environmental issues. The network objective is to COORDINATE the events of the associated festivals, PROMOTE AND DISTRIBUTE FILMS worldwide and ENCOURAGE INITIATIVES AND PROJECTS that might help people ponder about the environment.
COORDINATE…
The network is a meeting point, where all the associate festivals can exchange and share information, cinematographic experiences and services worldwide. The aim is to create an international network that promotes a pro-environment culture through the cinema. These meetings also give the opportunity to improve artistic and professional abilities, and boost the promotion of authors and works they consider worthy of note.
PROMOTE AND DISTRIBUTE FILMS…
The GFN gives the best films presented at each of the various festivals the opportunity to be picked by other members and to circulate between different festivals and countries, ensuring they are seen and appreciated by a much wider audience. The network is therefore an additional but important way to widespread distribution of significant works dealing with environmental issues.
ENCOURAGE INITIATIVES AND PROJECTS…
But the network is not only cinema. Each festival that joins the network takes an active part in achieving projects, setting up workshops, holding debates and events, completing joint activities, and commits itself to work with the others to lay the foundations for discussions and researches that will reach out to the public and enter the schools. All in the hope of creating a new “culture” that pays greater attention to the relationships between man and his natural, social and cultural environments.
